A new application for heritage sites in Sri Lanka created by the French company YuSit
The new technologies contribute to make heritage attractive and understandable to the public. Many e-heritage projects across the world have successfully gained attention of both young and old visitors. Projects of the French company YuSit are part of it.
YuSit is a company specializing in cultural heritage enhancement based in France, in the suburbs of Rouen, in Normandy region. The company was founded in 2015. With a wealth of 20 years of experience in historical and cultural field in France and abroad, YuSit puts its expertise at the service of cultural heritage. Through its knowledge of cultural policies and pluridisciplinary competencies, YuSit is one of the leaders in creation and development of mediation’s tools for valorization of cultural heritage.
Being a company comprising of archaeologists, historians, and computer engineers, the team is also involved in research programs, scientific commissions, UNESCO and participate in the training of new generations of cultural professionals by teaching at the university and taking part in symposiums and special seminars reserved for specialists. E-culture is a growing discipline in Digital Humanities. Digital tools are becoming an integral element of the cultural communication. Smart phone applications for heritage sites, virtual reconstructions of monuments created with augmented reality and virtual reality have rejuvenated the cultural mediation.

In the application, we can find particularly ‘Practical information’, ‘Etiquette’ for visiting religious places, history of the city and 19 points of attractions. The application does not collect any personal data and is free of charge for anyone. Once downloaded, it can be used offline with all its features
It is now available on Google Play and the IOS version of the application has been created on AppStore.
