On the 24th of June 2015, H.E. Mr Jean-Marin SCHUH, Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives had the great honour to meet with H.E. Mr Maithripala SIRISENA, President of the Republic of Sri Lanka.
During the discussions, H.E. Mr Jean-Marin Schuh presented the COP 21, the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Paris at the end of 2015 and emphazised France’s ambition – as host and future President of this worldwide event- to reach a fair, universal and binding “Paris Agreement” in December 2015.
H.E. Mr Jean-Marin Schuh expressed his will to strengthen bilateral relations and economic cooperation with Sri Lanka in several areas such as investment, trade, and environment protection. He underlines that French Companies are looking forward to working with Sri Lankan Companies in the fields of aeronautics and urban development – water supply, water sanitation, transports - with a keen interest in sustainable projects.
Other topic discussed were related to the growth of tourism. As the number of French tourists in Sri Lanka increases, H.E. Mr Jean-Marin Schuh highlighted the attractiveness of Sri Lanka in terms of Heritage, natural assets and cultural activities and his will to reinforce cooperation with Sri Lanka’s new government in this strategic field and develop sri-lankan tourism towards France.
