Symposium on French Language in Kandy on 21st March [fr]

The Embassy of France, the Alliance Française Network in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the Sri Lankan Association of French Teachers and the Universities of Paradeniya, Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardhanapura and Jaffna, are organizing a symposium about French Language in Sri Lanka and in the Maldives.


It will be held at Cinnamon Citadel Hotel in Kandy on 21st March from 8 am to 5pm.

The discussions will bring together representatives of ALL major institutions teaching French in the country.

The main objectives of this symposium are:

- To map the actual situation of teaching-learning French in Sri Lanka.
- To bring together at a single forum, all teachers of the French language from the Sri Lankan school system, from the university network and all professionals involved with the French Language.
- To discuss and debate on the situation of French in the country and to devise measures to further develop the teaching learning methodologies for French.

The conference will also bring together persons responsible for the French Language at the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education with the aspiration of associating them as partners in further development of the Teaching Learning mechanism of this foreign language in Sri Lanka.

This symposium is the first of its kind in the field of French teaching in the country and proves to be an important milestone in the history of the French Language in Sri Lanka.
